EUROSTAT reports that more than one billion passengers travelled by air in the European Union in 2017. Their number is up 7% compared to 2016 and 39% compared to 2009. The Statistical Office also reports that 47% travelled within the EU, 36% outside the EU and 17% used domestic routes. The country with the highest number of passengers is Great Britain - France is in fourth place.
